A Glimpse of Early Hadera: The Lavotzkin Flour Mill Yard

Step back in time to the early days of Hadera. This striking archival photograph captures camels and their owners resting inside the bustling flour mill yard owned by the Lavotzkin family.

The Lavotzkins - parents Eliyahu and Reisha, along with their children David, Golda, Ita, and Chaim - immigrated from Russia and became one of the foundational families of the city. Their son, Chaim, ran this busy flour mill in the Khan (Ottoman building) and was widely known for his brilliant mechanical inventions.

Today, their legacy lives on right in the heart of the city along Lavotzkin Street. Images like this remind us of the incredible grit, daily labor, and unique stories that built the foundations of our Renewed Homeland.
