A Moment of Unity: The Lelover Rebbe Visits Lod

Around 1988–1989, a rare photograph captured a powerful moment of cross-Hasidic fellowship in Lod, Israel: the visit of the Lelover Rebbe, Rabbi Shimon Nathan Nata Biderman zt"l, to the local Chabad Yeshiva (Torat Emet / Tomchei Tmimim).

The title refers to the dynastic leaders of the Lelov Hasidic movement, founded in the early 19th century in Lelów, Poland, by Rabbi Dovid Biderman (1746–1814). The dynasty established a strong presence in the Land of Israel during the 19th century and maintained warm, historic ties with Chabad-Lubavitch. This late-80s visit highlights both that deep relationship and the thriving Torah life in Lod as it grew into a vital hub for Hasidic education.
