Agudat Israel est un parti politique fondé en 1912 en Pologne. Il fut conçu comme un outil pour préserver le mode de vie ultra-orthodoxe face au sionisme moderne, et pour défendre/promouvoir la Halakha (loi juive).

Abraham Isaac Kook, known as Rav Kook, was an Orthodox rabbi, and the first Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of pre-state Israel (in British Mandatory Palestine). He is considered one of the fathers of religious Zionism.
